Alex McKoy was born on December 24, 1871 in Carter's Mill, North Carolina. He was the first son, and was 22 years old when his father passed.
At an early age he married Katie Ritter and they were the proud parents of ten children; Lelia, Nannie, Ernest, Dora, Arthur, Curtis, Williams, Estelle, Virginia, and Albert. Alex's occupation was farming. He was baptized and joined New Zion AME Zion Church where he earnestly served as Class Leader. After purchasing land in the Long Leaf area, he later became one of the founders of Long Leaf AME Zion Church. He was Sunday School Superintendent and he served faithfully until his death on August 4, 1943.
Rufus F. was born in Carter's Mill, North Carolina on July 29, 1872. He was the second son, and was 21 years old when his father passed.
Rufus married Emily Brower and were the parents of eleven children; Rhoda, Blanche, Johnnie, Hassie, Carrie, Edra, Ella, George, Doctor, Betsy Ann, and Mary. Rufus's occupation was farming. He was baptized and attended New Zion AME Zion Church. He helped to establish Long Leaf AME Zion Church where he served and attended faithfully until his death on August 1, 1953.
John Wesley was born on March 18, 1879, in Carter's Mill, North Carolina. He was the third son, and was 14 years old when his father passed.
He met and married Julia Brower. To this union twelve children were born; Henry, Robert, Girlie, Fannie, Mamie, Irving, Ollie, Mordecai, Emma, Charlie, and Alberta. John's occupation was farming. He was baptized and united with New Zion AME Zion Church where he served until he was called into the ministry. He enrolled in a correspondence course, which taught him how to read. He pastored in Troy and Wadesboro, NC. Later he moved to Asheboro, NC where he founded Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church and served many years. He was later called to Rockingham, NC where he pastored until his death on November 26, 1936.
George Mason was born July 18, 1882, in Carter's Mill. He was the fourth son, and was 11 years old when his father passed.
He met and married Lula Ritter and parents of twelve children; Ola, Caldwell, Julia, Almetta, Irene, Novella, Oscar, Anna, Howard, Otis (Odell), Estelle, and Samuel. George's occupation was farming and sawmilling. He was baptized and united with the New Zion AME Zion Church where he served as a steward and class leader. He helped established Long Leaf AME Zion Church and after purchasing a property in the area moved his membership there. He served as trustee, deacon, superintendent of Sunday School, and class leader. After the death of his first wife Lula, he moved to Greensboro and later married Clara Watkins and joined New Light Baptist Church. He served faithfully until his death on May 31, 1965.
Onslow was born January 17, 1886, in Carter's Mill, North Carolina. He was the fifth son and was seven years old when his father passed.
He met and married Betty Brower and were parents of five children; George, James, Arnetta, Leo, and Junior. Onslow's occupation was farming and sawmilling. He was baptized, united with New Zion AME Zion Church, a class leader, and a steward. He was also one of the brothers who helped to establish Long Leaf AME Zion Church. After purchasing property in the area he attended Long Leaf and New Zion until his death on July 9, 1966. His membership remained at New Zion AME Zion Church.
Wincie was born May 8, 1887 in Carter's Mill, North Carolina. She was the second and youngest daughter. She was four years old when her father passed.
Wincie met and married William Brower and were the parents of ten children; Edihue, Ethel, Cumni, Nicey, Talmadge, Roy, Lannie (Malcolm), Ferrel, and Vellie. Wincie attended New Zion AME Zion Church. She was a loyal and faithful housewife and helped support her family by sewing, quilting, and cooking for other people in the community. She lived a Christian life throughout the community until her death in 1932.
Better known as Little Johnny was born in Carter's Mill, North Carolina in 1871. He died in 1885 at the age of fourteen.
Irena E. Shamberger was born in 1872 in Carter's Mill, North Carolina. She died at an early age.
Alethia was born October 23, 1891, in Carter's Mill, North Carolina. She met and married Alex Chrisco. They had two children; Boyd and Sevester. Alfter the birth of her children, she became ill and died. The exact date of her death is unknown.
Ella was born in 1893 in Carter Mill. Ella died when she was a teenager. At the time of her death, she was engaged to Jetson Maness. The date of her death is unknown.
